Apologies for the absence... between finishing work, going home and coming back to JPN, doing more work, and thinking about Life, I just kind of forgot LJ :|

The highlights of this summer was definitely going home. It was a bit short, yes, but long enough that I covered my bases before I felt that I was idling.

Some things! Sadly without photos, for now!

+ met up with sushikabob89! She took me around SoHo shops and we ate a lot! Her Cantonese is so cute! It was so unreal but so awesome!

+ Unfortunately, I was about a week too late to catch essyllus :(

+ herp derp I ate so much. How much? I didn't take a photo of EVERYTHING I ate (ugh baklava) but I was able to BS through about 1.5 hrs of my english convo class with the pics of all the food I ate

+ best wedding ever! My sister and her husband kept it short and sweet. Didn't get to eat that much because of the obligatory social interactions :( But lol my bro, his biffle, my sis+her bf and I all got in the hotel room bathroom and got high. hahahahah perfect way to end the trip IMO!

+ I already hate most of the new arrivals from the other company. (Note: my company usually has newbs come in in April. The other company starts in August, maybe to match western academic systems) Two of them spoke in Japanese to me for no obvious reason other than the fact that I am Asian. One of them did it RIGHT AFTER I had an exchange, entirely in English, with a friend. THEY WERE SITTING RIGHT NEXT TO EACH OTHER. The second one apologized to me, but I was having none of that.

Maybe someone on the outside could say that I was overreacting, but honestly? Why is it something I should just forgive and forget? This guy obviously takes action based on appearances. I take action based on actions.

/stewing And a third one spoke to me in this retarded broken English. Maybe it was his anglo-saxon accent. I don't know but it was so stupid. I was waiting to use the bathroom, and he asked me but like, in fobbish katakana English. I had NO IDEA what he was saying because his English was so treetarded. He was like ARE YOU? WAITINGU? After he repeated it (the second time he was just like WAITINGU?) I was like YES I AM WAITING FOR THE BATHROOM. I may have snarled. Then he asked if it was only one stall or sth and I was like UH YES IF THERE WERE MULTIPLES I WOULDN'T BE WAITING. And added that if all he needed was a sink, then he is free to use it.

And then Mika came in, and I was all MIKABUU RABURABU

Dear me circa last year,

You will end up sending treetarded drunk emails and racing room escape games together. Sometime in between you will get a Paddington Bear and a freaky demon koala out of this guy. For all the angst you go through, you will get something like a punching bag in the end.

I'm getting my students to write messages of support in wake of recent disasters in Japan. If anyone wants to also contribute (there's no set format or anything, no set language), I'll take contributions. Right now, the pics are more for preview of what's to come, as I left my digicam wire at the new apartment so you'll have to do with mediocre camera pics. I've got 100 or so of these to put up, so expect the pace to pick up soon.

YOU'RE WELCOME. I'm beginning to get the appeal of guys who look like they can build the kitchen where they will bake my cake, or pick up an oyster shell with tickets to that thing I love that are suddenly now diamonds.

I can not get this image out of my mind and I really hope it burns itself into the back of my eyelids. I want him and his moobs to gently squish me against a wall. In 10 years and 10,000 push ups, slutender could look like this guy (they have the same hooked nose and cheekbones). I'm definitely sure that cheekbones are my kryptonite.

This is going to sound really dumb but the fact that he's got insanely fluent English (as in, I'd believe he was a naturalized US/CA citizen or something) makes me want to daydream about him even more. Like bad Mary-Sue fic daydream, except instead of daydreaming about Bella-Edward-esque romances, I kind of want to just poke his nipples.

ADVICE: SO If you are planning to move into an apartment you really ought to have more than like... ~$400 saved up.

Lol so my friend and I found this huge and sweet apartment where the rent is like ~80,000yen/month. Split between two of us, it's less than what we each pay for our one-roomers. The problem is the startup cost, which is ~550,000 yen. That's about $6000USD.

We need this money in like, three weeks.

We have a few options. The one I'm looking at is taking out a cash advance on a credit card. Another one is going to our company for a loan. The loan is relatively high interest (1% on the loan amt per month of payback), but it's for such a small amount that it's kind of tolerable :|

It's just super annoying because I have two major trips planned in March. Also if we were to move in mid-March, we'd need the money before the first week of March or so, but we get paid at the end of the month. Not that our paychecks would be enough to cover the money but it'd be more helpful :|
